The ATS Test Port Assembly should be used whenever a contractor is required to drill holes in the duct. This assembly provides protection to the duct wall, while allowing the hole to be accessed in the future. Typically, this is necessary for air balancing, an inspection port for video probes or for an instrument connection. This process seals the raw exposed edges of the duct wall resulting from the drilling operation.<\/p>\n

The ATS Test Port Assembly should be used whenever a contractor is required to drill holes in the duct. Step 1:<\/b> Using a Hole Saw, bore a hole equivalent to the I.D. of the threads on the male adapter. A HEPA vacuum is used to remove particulates generated by the drilling process.<\/div>\n

Step 2a: <\/b>Use a Standard NPT (National Pipe Thread) Metal Threaded Nipple to tap the hole and form threads into the FRP. This will avoid stripping the PVC threads and insure a secure bond.<\/div>\n

Note: If an existing Test Port Assembly is not installed properly, remove the whole assembly and install the next larger size Test Port Assembly. Use a Standard NPT (National Pipe Thread) Drill\/Tap to match the threads of the new Male Adapter. Drilling the hole and tapping the threads are performed in one operation.<\/div>\n

Step 3:<\/b> Use ChemBond™ <\/sup>Putty Mix to coat the threaded duct edge and then liberally coat the exterior threads of the Male Adapter.<\/p>\n

Step 4:<\/b> Screw the Test Port Assembly in place until threads are no longer exposed. The excess ChemBond™<\/sup> Putty on the outside threads should be smoothed to finish the tap connection.<\/p>\n

The Inside seam of the Threaded Adapter penetrating the inner corrosion barrier will have a seal completely around of ChemBond Putty Mix. This seal will keep chemicals from leaching through and into the duct wall.<\/div>\n
